i MADE it.

hey readers..

for the past couple of months, i have been going to a number of Airlines interview in order to chase my dream of being a Cabin Crew.. this had been my dream for a while.. but when i was with my ex he shut off the idea at the very moment i voice it..

so being the dumb lover i obliged. did it pay off? of course not. so all you people out there if your lover cannot support ur dream, then go find a new one!

ok, that is not why this post.
moving on...

i went to many walk in interviews for many airlines.. MAS, SIA, QATAR, EMIRATES even AIR ASIA... i didnt get in.. it was extremely tough.. you must posses great personality and a certain level of knowledge and confidence..

i almost gave up.. so on the 17th of July Air Asia had a walk in interview in Park Royal.. i didnt feel like going.. i have to admit i kinda got beaten down.. but thankfully my aunt pushed me to go.. so i just went. i pergi pun lambat.. it started at 9, and I reached there around 11 plus..

there were not that many people.. overall 400 people came.. and i was lucky number 300.. so i sat and waited. met a few friends that i met before in other interviews (Miss Kim, MH interview Penang) and made some new friends while waiting..

i was number 300 and when i was in the room they were calling number 140.. so another 160 more people to go.. surprisingly, i didnt have to wait that long.. it took like an hour plus before i was called (comparing to the 9 hours wait for the MH interview)

1st stage.

there were 2 interviewers, and i can see there were like 5 sets of interviewers. i was with interviewer number 2. the guy was Mr Terrance (sorry if i spelled the name wrongly). he is hot. he is super hot. he is with Air Asia X now... and.... ok moving on....

so the guy before me was interviewed for quite sometime.. he is from Air Asia and they had an issue with interdepartmental change thinggy. so i stood there for quite a while and that is when my nerves starts to kick in.. dammit lah!

when i was called i was all over the place. they asked me about my work now, my degree, a bit about my debating experience.. they checked my skin ( i was so nervous, the last time i didnt get in AK because my acne's scar was obvious) thankfully they were ok with it, no comments were made and they asked me to read the announcement in english.

i fumbled.

i know for normal people i did an ok job, but being a debater i assessed myself as i was reading it and i knew i could have done far better. so i am prepared to go back (the last time i read the announcement flawlessly and yet still got kicked out).

i waited for 5-7 minutes in the waiting room, and the results were in.. the key here is, if u got called with a large number of people, you are going home. as they were calling out the numbers, i was holding my bag and preparing to leave..

but nop.. my number was not called..

i was called by the guy to join another group and i was informed that i made it to the next round. it was like somebody threw a bucket of gold on my laps. (note: i never made tru the first round for these kind of interviews.)

2nd stage.

this is the English Proficiency test, you are given 25 MCQs and an essay to answer in 1/2 hour. for me this is my forte. the ENGLISH LANGUAGE and essay!

i was done with my essay in 5 minutes (oh puhlezz, i was in law school.. essay is like writing a short memo for me! lol! haha) and continued with the MCQs.. i checked and rechecked to make sure that it was perfect!

after passing up.. i got a letter informing to go to Air Asia Academy the next day for the 2nd day interview.!

2nd DAY.

i woke up early to beat the traffic.. traffic in cheras is crazy in the morning! i reached Air Asia Academy around 7.40, as we have to be there by 8.

as soon as i parked, there is this guy in front of me he keeps looking my way.. so i got off the car, and smiled. we got to know each other, his name is Kelvin from.... guess where..? SEREMBAN. my hometown.

so we immediately became buddies. trust me, it is nice to have someone to talk to in an airline interview.

3rd stage.

we were given a couple of minutes to get to know the person next to us and introduce the person in front of the panel and the entire crowd. for someone who has no oratory background this can be a pain in the A$$.

the key is to make your introduction as creative and as unique as possible.. everyone was hitting the same note and falling flat.. so i came up with a plan.. since the guy next to me, Orey, was from Penampang Sabah, so i asked him the nearest airport to his place and he said KKIA (Kota Kinabalu International Airport). so i opened AK's website using my mobile (lord bless data package) and checked the next flight to KK and used that as an opening for my presentation.

how? you go figure.

4th stage.

right after that, we were divided into 12 groups and we were given ONLY 5 minutes to prepare for a group performance. i went to our group and told them look, we are doing this and i laid down the plan.. it will be a sketch about AK's walk in interview and it will be a parody.. i gave the characters and i told them, just roll with it... no scripts, nothing..

we were the 10th group to perform and we were not allowed to sit in a group to further discuss. at that time i was praying, we will either make it, or break it..

the other groups were ok.. they were ill prepared and some had no idea what they were doing.. i pity them as we were only allocated 5 minutes to prepare.

when my team performed, we nailed it. everyone was perfect, even better than what i expected. they all embraced the characters and everyone enjoyed the sketch. we were the few groups that people were laughing with us, not at us.

as soon as we were done, i heard one of the penal said, "THIS IS MY FAV GROUP!"

i was happy, i mean come on, acting is my forte.. i am a drama queen!*smug*

after all the performance, we went for lunch and i was showered with congratulatory speeches. i felt like i won an Oscar or something..

5th stage. FINAL INTERVIEW.

we got back into the hall, and they said we will be divided into smaller groups. as the numbers got called i realized that there is only 2 groups and the other is bigger than ours. i sensed something is wrong..

i knew at that point one of the groups will be going home.

some of the early favs were called into the other group.. i was not called and the other group were twice our size. i prayed real hard. as the other group was instructed to leave the hall everyone began to pray.. most of us by that time had sensed something is off..

we got to know that we made it for the final interview. so we waited outside and we were called one by one..

there were 6 sets of panels of 2 and i was amongst the earliest to be called. i got the 2nd panel. one hot dude and one not so hot.

i was asked numerous questions, about my degree and my choice.. and about the aviation industry.. of course i nailed all of the questions! by that time i had regained my confidence and i had to nail the interview..

one memorable moment was when the interviewer asked.. "Where do u see yourself in 5 yrs from now?"

i  answered.. "i see myself maybe as a leading steward.."

he said... "maybe more.. with your dynamic personality and attitude, you might be sitting here in our place doing interviews..."

i was on cloud 9! i was flying high.. at that point i knew it.. i would get the job! but i didnt want to be over confident.

so i waited at the side as the result being passed to the "result table" i was called and i got the job!

Kelvin and few more people i got close to also made it and a large number of people didnt. i feel bad for them being so close yet so far away.!!

so this friday i will have to attend a medical check up and if all go well i hope ill be in the academy by August.. amin!

p/s: i want to thank my mum and dad for i dont know how much money they have spent on me and making sure that my dreams came true. for the moral support and all..

my friends, apai and johan.. yang sanggup teman i sampai ipoh for interviews,

Qoy and Shuk.. yang selalu support and bg i info and make sure i dont give up and call i everytime i ade interview and to see how i do... i love u both..

cik Teena, walaupun kita baru kenal.. u sgt supportive and baik! i wish u well love..

to all those who supported me tp i x sebut.. thanks..

and to that certain someone.. who cried when i got in.. very cute la.. i terharu..! i cannot share ur name here.. bahaya! haha..
